Why?

Because I can…. create cider, that is. Valley Cider is an exercise & commitment to discover an apple’s potential; a one-man show from farmer’s field to sparkling bottle. Plus my wife. And some volunteers. And gracious neighbors, family & friends. And even a few passers-by who seemed harmless enough.

Having the good fortune to be located in a veritable apple wonderland (BC) and more specifically a region steeped in rich apple history (Cowichan Valley), doesn’t hurt either. Almost everything needed to produce extraordinary cider is local, if not within arm’s reach. Cider has the additional bragging rights of being able to use all those ‘ugly’ fruits that stores eschew. Drink cider, save the world. Kinda.

It all evolved through this cidermaker’s years of trials and tribulation from “I wonder if I can make cider with this…” to “wow, that’s good…. wonder if I can replicate that?” And the answer is yes.
